Happy National HIV Testing Day! Do you know your HIV status? If you have had sex (oral, anal, or vaginal) outside of a lifelong mutually monogamous relationship with an uninfected partner, you need to get tested. Even if you always use protection, you are still risk. Barrier methods, such as condoms, reduce but do not eliminate the risk of HIV. Latex male condoms for instance only reduce the risk of HIV by 85%.
Testing is usually inexpensive or free. Often, you can get the results of your test in 30 minutes or less. HIV, which can lead to AIDS, is an incurable disease. You can’t afford to go untested.
